Administration of drugs topical route

The application of a drug directly to a localized area of the body, most commonly the skin or mucous membranes, to produce a localized effect. This method is intended to deliver the active substance to a specific site while minimizing systemic absorption and potential side effects. Formulations for topical delivery include creams, ointments, gels, lotions, and transdermal patches designed for application to the epidermis.
