Covalent drug
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002652
A pharmaceutical agent that forms a stable covalent bond with its molecular target, typically a protein. This irreversible or slowly reversible interaction can lead to sustained pharmacological effects. Many covalent drugs are designed to target specific amino acid residues in the active site of an enzyme.
