Cox-Yates equation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002653

An equation used in physical organic chemistry to describe the protonation equilibria of weak bases in strongly acidic solutions. It relates the observed pKa to the acidity function and a parameter that accounts for the solvation changes upon protonation. This equation is an extension of the Hammett acidity function concept.
