Taft equation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013638
A linear free-energy relationship that describes the effect of substituents on the rates or equilibria of chemical reactions, particularly for aliphatic systems. It separates the electronic and steric effects of substituents. This equation is analogous to the Hammett equation but is applied to reactions where steric factors are more prominent.
