Kamlet-Taft solvent parameters

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006299

A set of empirical scales used to quantify the solvatochromic properties of solvents, based on their ability to act as hydrogen bond donors, hydrogen bond acceptors, and their polarity/polarizability. These parameters are derived from the solvatochromic shifts of indicator dyes. They provide a quantitative measure for understanding and predicting solvent effects on reaction rates and equilibria.
