Kallikrein

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006298

A type of serine protease that cleaves kininogens to release kinins, such as bradykinin, which are potent vasodilators and inflammatory mediators. These enzymes are found in plasma and tissues, playing roles in blood pressure regulation, inflammation, and coagulation. Plasma kallikrein is involved in the intrinsic pathway of coagulation.
