Mannan-binding lectin-associated serine peptidase-1 and -2
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006949
Proteolytic enzymes (MASP-1 and MASP-2) that are components of the lectin pathway of the complement system, a part of the innate immune response. These enzymes become activated upon binding of mannan-binding lectin (MBL) to pathogen surfaces, initiating a cascade of protein cleavages. MASP-2 specifically cleaves C4 and C2, leading to the formation of the C3 convertase.
