Critical coagulation concentration
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002679
The minimum electrolyte concentration required to induce rapid coagulation or flocculation of a colloidal dispersion. At this concentration, the electrostatic repulsion between particles is sufficiently reduced to allow van der Waals attractive forces to dominate, leading to particle aggregation. It is a measure of the stability of a colloidal system.
