Critical concentration
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002680
The concentration of a chemical within a specific target organ or tissue at which an adverse functional change, reversible or irreversible, occurs. This threshold is reached when the rate of uptake and accumulation of the substance surpasses the body's capacity for detoxification and elimination. The critical concentration in the organ is distinct from the critical dose, which is the external exposure level required to achieve that internal concentration.
