Critical organ concentration
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002696
The concentration of a toxic substance within a specific organ that is associated with the onset of a defined adverse effect. This internal dose metric is used in toxicology to relate the amount of a chemical in the target organ to its observed toxicity. It provides a more direct measure of the biologically effective dose than external exposure concentrations.
