Critical energy

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002685

The minimum internal energy that a molecule must possess to undergo a specific unimolecular reaction, such as dissociation or isomerization. This energy corresponds to the energy of the transition state for the reaction pathway. It is a fundamental parameter in chemical kinetics, influencing reaction rates and product distributions.
