Sol-gel critical concentration

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010981

The threshold concentration of added salt beyond which a sol of particles coagulates into aggregates rather than setting as a gel. Below the threshold the particles link into a continuous network, so it marks the boundary between gelation and coagulation of the sol. It is expressed as a molar concentration of the added electrolyte.
