Sol-gel metal oxide
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010983
A metal oxide material synthesized via the sol-gel process, where metal alkoxides or inorganic metal salts are hydrolyzed and condensed to form a colloidal suspension (sol) that subsequently gels. This method allows for the preparation of high-purity, homogeneous metal oxide powders, films, or monoliths at relatively low temperatures. Common examples include titanium dioxide (TiO2) and zirconium dioxide (ZrO2).
