Sol-gel material
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010982
A material formed through the sol-gel process, which involves the hydrolysis and condensation of molecular precursors to create a colloidal suspension (sol) that subsequently gels into a network. These materials are typically inorganic, such as metal oxides, or hybrid inorganic-organic composites. They find application in coatings, ceramics, and catalysts due to their tunable porosity and surface area.
