Sol
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013564
A type of colloidal dispersion in which solid particles are suspended in a continuous liquid medium. The particles are small enough that they do not settle out due to gravity and can remain dispersed for long periods. Sols are distinguished from gels, which are colloidal systems where the dispersed phase forms a network structure, giving the material a solid-like character.
