Soiling

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010974

The deposition of particulate matter, such as dust, soot, or aerosols, onto surfaces, leading to discoloration and reduced aesthetic appeal or functionality. This phenomenon is a direct consequence of air pollution and can affect buildings, monuments, and even solar panels. The extent of soiling is often measured by changes in reflectance or light transmission.
