Suspended matter
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011697
Solid particles dispersed within a fluid, such as air or water, that are large enough to be retained on a filter but too small to settle out rapidly. These particles contribute to turbidity in liquids and can include dust, pollen, and microorganisms. In atmospheric chemistry, suspended particulate matter is often measured in micrograms per cubic meter.
