Particle concentration

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013374

The amount of airborne particulate matter per unit volume of air, expressed either as mass concentration, usually in micrograms per cubic metre, or as number concentration, in particles per cubic centimetre. Size-resolved instruments report the number or mass in each diameter range as well as the total. In atmospheric aerosol, most of the particle number lies below 0.1 micrometre in diameter, whereas most of the mass lies in larger particles.
