Number density
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008157
The number of specified entities per unit volume, often used to describe the concentration of particles in a gas, liquid, or solid. It is a fundamental quantity in statistical mechanics and kinetic theory. For an ideal gas, the number density is directly proportional to pressure and inversely proportional to temperature.
