Collision density

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002221

The number of molecular collisions occurring per unit volume per unit time within a gas or liquid. This quantity is directly proportional to the square of the number density of the molecules and to the average relative speed of the colliding particles. It is a fundamental parameter in kinetic theory for understanding reaction rates.
