Collision cell
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002218
A region within a tandem mass spectrometer where selected ions are fragmented through collisions with neutral gas molecules. This chamber is typically filled with an inert gas, such as argon or helium, at a controlled pressure. The kinetic energy of the ions is converted into internal energy upon collision, leading to dissociation.
