Higher-energy collision dissociation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005289
A beam-type collision-induced dissociation technique, implemented mainly in Orbitrap (Kingdon trap) instruments, in which precursor ions are accelerated into a multipole collision cell and fragmented by energetic collisions with neutral gas. Unlike resonance-excitation CID in an ion trap, it has no low mass cut-off, so low-mass reporter ions such as tandem mass tag fragments are detected.
