Collision-induced dissociation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002233
A process in mass spectrometry where an ion fragments into smaller ions due to inelastic collisions with neutral gas molecules. The kinetic energy of the ion is converted into internal energy, leading to bond cleavage. This technique is widely used for structural elucidation of molecules.
