Low-energy collision-induced dissociation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006784
A fragmentation method in mass spectrometry where ions are accelerated to relatively low kinetic energies (typically less than 100 eV) and then collide with neutral gas molecules. These collisions impart internal energy to the ions, leading to their dissociation into smaller product ions. This technique is widely used for structural elucidation of biomolecules and other complex compounds.
