Electron-transfer/higher-energy collision dissociation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003766
A hybrid fragmentation technique in mass spectrometry that combines electron-transfer dissociation (ETD) with higher-energy collision dissociation (HCD). This method first applies ETD to generate c- and z-type ions, and then subjects these primary fragments to HCD to produce further fragmentation. The combination yields a richer set of fragment ions, including b- and y-type ions, providing more sequence information for complex peptides.
