Peptide fragmentation technique

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008606

A method used in mass spectrometry to induce the dissociation of peptide ions into smaller fragment ions, which are then analyzed to deduce the peptide's amino acid sequence. Common techniques include collision-induced dissociation (CID), electron capture dissociation (ECD), and electron transfer dissociation (ETD). These techniques differ in their fragmentation patterns and are chosen based on the analytical goal.
