Peptide precursor ion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008609
An ionized peptide molecule that is selected for fragmentation in a tandem mass spectrometry experiment. This ion undergoes dissociation into smaller fragment ions, which are then detected to provide sequence information about the original peptide. The mass-to-charge ratio of the peptide precursor ion is measured in the first stage of mass analysis.
