Product ion analysis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009506
A mass spectrometry technique where a selected precursor ion is fragmented, and the resulting product ions are then mass analyzed. This process provides structural information about the precursor ion, as the fragmentation patterns are characteristic of specific chemical bonds and functional groups. It is a key component of tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) experiments.
