Internal fragment
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005965
A product ion formed in mass spectrometry by the cleavage of two bonds within a molecule, resulting in a fragment that does not contain either end of the original molecule. This type of fragmentation provides structural information about the central portion of a molecule. It is often observed in tandem mass spectrometry experiments.
