A concept in immunology referring to an antibody or T-cell receptor that mimics the three-dimensional structure of an antigen, even though it does not share sequence homology with the original antigen. This mimicry allows it to bind to the same receptor as the original antigen. It is a key aspect of the idiotype network theory.
