Germ line

Referring to the genetic material in its inherited, unrearranged configuration within an organism's reproductive cells. In immunology, this describes the state of immunoglobulin or T-cell receptor genes before the somatic recombination events that generate antibody or T-cell diversity. These genes are passed from one generation to the next.
