Joining gene

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006287

A segment of DNA that encodes a part of the variable region of an immunoglobulin or T-cell receptor. These gene segments are recombined with variable and diversity gene segments during V(D)J recombination to generate antibody and T-cell receptor diversity. There are multiple joining gene segments available for selection in the genome.
