Vα-Jα rearrangement
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012496
A genetic recombination process occurring during T-cell development in the thymus, where variable (V) and joining (J) gene segments of the T-cell receptor alpha chain are brought together. This rearrangement creates a unique antigen-binding site, contributing to the diversity of T-cell receptors. It is a key step in adaptive immunity.
