Recombination signal sequence

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010023

Specific DNA sequences flanking the variable (V), diversity (D), and joining (J) gene segments in immunoglobulin and T-cell receptor loci. These sequences are recognized by the recombination-activating gene (RAG) enzymes, initiating V(D)J recombination. Each sequence consists of a conserved heptamer and nonamer, separated by a 12-base pair or 23-base pair spacer.
