Heavy chain
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005152
One of the two types of polypeptide chains that make up an antibody molecule, larger than the light chain. Each antibody typically consists of two identical heavy chains and two identical light chains. The heavy chains determine the antibody's class (e.g., IgG, IgM) and contribute to antigen binding and effector functions.
