Fd fragment
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004362
A proteolytic fragment of an immunoglobulin heavy chain, consisting of the variable region and the first constant domain (VH and CH1). This fragment remains associated with the light chain to form the Fab fragment, which is responsible for antigen binding. The Fd fragment is distinct from the Fc fragment, which mediates effector functions.
