Paratope
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008462
The specific region on an antibody molecule that recognizes and binds to an antigen. This site is formed by the variable domains of both the heavy and light chains of the antibody, creating a unique three-dimensional structure complementary to the epitope of the antigen. The paratope's affinity and specificity for its target antigen determine the effectiveness of the immune response.
