Antigenic determinant
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000685
A specific region on an antigen molecule that is recognized and bound by an antibody or T-cell receptor. These determinants, also known as epitopes, are typically small molecular structures, such as a sequence of amino acids or a specific carbohydrate arrangement. The specificity of antibody-antigen binding is determined by the complementary shapes of the antigenic determinant and the antibody's paratope.
