Linear epitope
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006621
An antigenic determinant on a protein that is recognized by an antibody or T cell receptor, where the amino acid residues forming the epitope are contiguous in the primary sequence of the protein. Unlike conformational epitopes, which depend on the protein's three-dimensional structure, linear epitopes remain accessible even after denaturation. These epitopes are often targeted by antibodies generated during viral infections or in response to peptide vaccines.
