Monospecificity

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013306

The property of an antiserum or antibody preparation of reacting only with its designated antigen, with no detectable reaction to other antigens under the assay conditions. A monospecific antiserum can be polyclonal and recognise several epitopes on that one antigen, whereas a monoclonal antibody is directed at a single epitope.
