Monosomy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-007561
A chromosomal abnormality where an organism has only one copy of a particular chromosome, instead of the usual two. This condition results from nondisjunction during meiosis, leading to an aneuploid cell. Turner syndrome, characterized by monosomy of the X chromosome (45, X), is an example in humans.
