Trisomy 21

A genetic condition resulting from the presence of an extra copy of chromosome 21 in some or all cells, leading to a total of three copies instead of the usual two. This chromosomal abnormality, also known as Down syndrome, is characterized by a distinct set of physical features, intellectual disability, and an increased risk of certain health problems. Individuals with trisomy 21 exhibit a range of developmental milestones and cognitive abilities.
