Trisomy 8
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012306
A chromosomal condition in which there is an extra copy of chromosome 8. A complete trisomy 8 is almost always lost as an early miscarriage, so people born with it are nearly all mosaic, with the extra chromosome in only some of their cells. Mosaic trisomy 8, called Warkany syndrome 2, causes variable features such as mild to moderate intellectual disability, deep palmar and plantar creases, and skeletal and kidney anomalies.
