Chromosome ring

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002057

A structurally abnormal chromosome in which both ends of a chromosome break off and the remaining central segment fuses to form a ring shape. This formation often involves the loss of genetic material from the telomeres. Ring chromosomes can lead to developmental delays, intellectual disability, and other health issues, depending on the specific chromosome involved and the genes lost.
