Chromosomal translocation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002054

A type of chromosomal abnormality where a segment of one chromosome breaks off and attaches to a different chromosome. This rearrangement can be balanced, meaning no genetic material is lost or gained, or unbalanced, leading to a gain or loss of genetic information. Unbalanced translocations frequently result in developmental problems or infertility.
