Homologous
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005374
Relating to structures, genes, or proteins in different species that are derived from a common ancestor. These features may have similar or different functions in the present-day organisms. For example, the wing of a bat and the arm of a human are homologous structures because they originated from the forelimb of a shared mammalian ancestor.
