Chromosomal inversion
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002053
A type of chromosomal rearrangement where a segment of a chromosome is reversed end to end. This occurs when a single chromosome undergoes two breaks and the broken segment rotates 180 degrees before rejoining. Inversions can be pericentric, involving the centromere, or paracentric, not involving the centromere.
