X chromosome
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012731
One of the two sex chromosomes in humans and many other mammals, present in two copies in females (XX) and one copy in males (XY). It carries a large number of genes, many of which are not directly related to sex determination. Disorders linked to genes on this chromosome exhibit characteristic inheritance patterns, such as X-linked recessive traits.
