Triploidy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012299
A chromosomal abnormality characterized by the presence of an entire extra set of chromosomes in a cell, resulting in three sets instead of the normal two. This condition leads to a total of 69 chromosomes in humans, rather than the typical 46. Triploidy is a severe genetic disorder that is almost always lethal in humans, often resulting in miscarriage.
