Describing a cell or organism that possesses a chromosome number that is an exact multiple of the haploid number for that species. This condition indicates a balanced set of chromosomes without any missing or extra individual chromosomes. Humans are typically diploid, meaning they have two sets of 23 chromosomes, totaling 46.
